I have an employee on long term sick and I don't think they will be coming back to work. What do I do?

Each individual case of long term sick is different. However, in order to deal with situations like this you need as much information as possible. Therefore you should arrange to meet with your employee (a home visit may be appropriate), request written permission to contact their medical practitioner, then request a detailed report regarding the person's diagnosis and recovery expectation.
