Flexible Working Policy
Product Information
This policy is based on statutory legislation and as well as explaining who can request flexible working, also details the employers obligations.
Question
Our receptionist has applied for flexible working, reducing her hours from 9am - 5pm to 10am - 3pm. Do I have to allow this?
Answer
If your employee cares for a child 16 or under (18 if disabled), or an adult of the same household you are legally obliged to consider the flexible working application. However, if there is no workable solution you are not obliged to agree to the request (but you do have to justify your reasons for not doing so).
